As expected our experience at this museum and cemetry was very moving. To see the headstones in the cemetry it was still hard to comprehend how they had buried about 100,000 on so little land. (That is all they were allowed to use) The cemetry had around 12,000 headstones and they had buried people up to 7 deep and just had to keep mounding dirt on the old graves to take the new.
Mark also had to wear a cap in the synagog as a sign of respect of their customs.
We all then made our way over the river to the Cathedral and Palace. It was a bit of an up hill walk and after so many days of walking on uneven cobled streets and footpaths our legs were killing us. But soldier on we did!!!
We were fortunate to get warmer weather this day, reaching a top of 9C it felt positively balmy to us. We entered St Vitius Cathedral (which seemed to be within the grounds of the Palace) and Mark in particular was awestruck, not having seen enough Catholic churches in his life time.
It was enormous and the leadlight windows just stunning. Even Sue said, if it was Sunday, she would go to experience Mass there.
Here is a pic of one of the windows as example but alas not very clear.
Then it was a quick dash back to the apt as we received a message from Di to say she had arrived and was waiting outside the door for us. We did however still manage to take some photos of the awesome view as well as of this door to the Italian Embassy.
Di was barely in the door and we were off again. Back to the Old town Square for a horse and buggy ride. So touristy but so great!! We loved ourselves of course!!
After the buggy ride we had pre-show drinks. We had seen a show that was bits of a couple of Mozart´s operas as well as some of his music.
The theatre was where Mozart conducted some of his work and well as premiered his Don Giovanni in 1787 (if memory serves us correctly) It was so sumptuous and spectacular. (Georgina & Laureen it was like the one we went to in Rome except Dresden Blue instead of red interior)
If you look closely at this photo taken in the theatre you will see Mark and I in the middle row towards the left and Di in the box next to us which she shared with Sue. As it was first in first served for the best seats we decided to grab 2 private boxes. We all thought we were rather special and posh.
We were all exhausted and after a nice meal we were home for a much needed rest and sleep.

That theatre, that door, that stained glass...gorgeous. Can't wait to see more photos eventually.

For the record... the blue phones were audioguides that we could hire. You just punched in the number of the thing you were looking at and it naratted the info in your language
xd
OK at long last the Grimes' are blogging in... missing you guys and loved your SMS the other day Dom!! (Remember - the one about how mean should read more!!) The photo's are amazing and as I read other comments I note that Mark's choice of phones is interesting and I am sure will only get more interesting as your travels continue. Neil just said that Mark looked more than relaxed in Budapest - he looked Budapist!
The weather looks like it is being kind to you. Your comments re the bathrooms reminded me of our luxury suite in Firenze. Promise to phone Ash and Mitch and Emmeline this week and arrange a meal get together. All is good here - everyone doing their thing. Having lunch with the Governor and Premier tomorrow for ANZAC day so I will pass on your regards - not sure how I scored the invite but will be sitting with the official party. Better limit myself to one wine!
Forgot how easy it is to blog - look forward to reading more exciting adventures. Love to Sue, stay safe - Cheers Laureen and Co....
