We were greeted out the front of our hotel by Guiliana, one of the owners of the family run hotel. It has been in their family for about 60 yrs. There is a separate wing for the family to live in. Their family consisted of 4 generations from Grande Nonna down to 6 yr old Andrea. The hotel section consisted of 10 or so rooms over 2 levels.
Our room was on the upper floor and we were lucky to score the one with large terrace overlooking the hillside and sea below (I had requested it in my booking). Sue had a room on the lower floor which also had a good size, pleasant garden courtyard. Sue felt right at home once she received permission to tend the numerous potted plants and sun herself each day. Adjoing and close by the hotel the family also ran 2 restaurants. We ate at both. One of them was so good we just had to got back for a second chance of eating the cheese stuffed tempura zucchini flowers. hhmmmmmm!!!! Having our terrace was fantastic. We enjoyed drinks on the terrace each night (possibly too much Prosecco on occasion) watching the cruise ships coming into the bay to moor at near by Amalfi. We also spent quite a bit of time just sunning ourselves, reading and taking it easy. The main town of Positano really only has one road through it which is one way. It loops down through the town, off the main road which goes from Amalfi to Sorentto.
The views from anywhere in Positano are simply breathtaking. Whether we were on the beach looking up the mountains, or at the look out at the top of the mountains looking down, day or night it regularly had us speechless. We both want to come back here. It is a very relaxing town and people are just so friendly. Again no big name shops to be seen. No billboards on the sides of the road. No red, blue or green flashing lights to advertise anything. At night it was like someone had put candles in all the windows. The soft yellow hue of the candescent lights was so pretty. It felt like it wasnt real.

Also another of Mark on the main beach. The "sand" was very rocky and quite sharp to walk on. The water crystal clear and quite cold. There is a smaller beach which is the one the locals tend to go to. We lucked upon a great seafood restaurant by the smaller beach. It happened to be part of the hotel where we found an internet cafe. To get to this particular hotel ws unbeliveable. We followed the sign "INTERNET" along a narrow paved path and steps and then to the foyer of another hotel. When I inquired as to the way to Pupetto hotel, I was directed to the elevator to go down to the lowest level. Leave the building and walk 50 m to the next elevator. This elevator then took us down the final section (approx 10 floors) to open up in a tunnel which led to the beach and hotel. While typing away on the computer we could smell the fab aromas coming from the kitchen.
The crowd started to grow and by the time we headed out to the dining area there were only a couple of tables left and people were starting to queue. As we were already within the space of the hotel we were offered a prime table on the edge of the terrace overlooking the beach and bacy. We were happy and it just got better when our meals arrived.
Mark had fried fish of the day. He was not expecting to get so many fish and they were extremely fresh. He particularly liked the sardines.
I had the mussels... there were about a kilo of them and there was no way I could finish them. It may not look it but this platter was BIG.

Lucky Sue didnt see how they made their roads before she did the bus trip!! Note the road overhang at the top, the cliff also cut in underneath.
